The debut performance of Paracarnival where we costumed, choreographed and introduced Sian and Mike (Wheelchair users) to the Thames Festival. We were extremely well received and so Paracarnival put inclusion on the map.

We organised in partnership with Paraiso School of Samba and Ealing Centre for Independent Living a series of creative workshops culminating in a successful performance at Notting Hill Carnival and achieving levels of inclusion unprecedented in the history of the Carnival.

We borrowed 15 spectacular King Momo (King of Chaos) costumes from the Olympic Handover Ceremony. Our ECIL group responded quickly and got the show on the road with a very strong performance at Notting Hill Carnival.

With support from the Arts Council and our other partners, we were able to offer a complete creative experience – with a 6¬†week programme of arts workshops, with another outstanding performance at Notting Hill. With such good uptake we increased our capacity by extending our workshops and taking on additional performances at Hackney Carnival and Danny Boyle’s “Shuffle” Festival.
